Stress Meter

The model SIS-5000-H & 5000-S Stress Capsule is designed to monitor total stresses in hard and soft rocks. The stress consists essentially of a high strength steel providing ring wedged tightly across one diameter of a borehole drilled into the rock. The distortion of the proving ring, caused by changing rock stresses, is measured by mean of vibrating wire. The changes in rock stress cause changes in the resonant frequency of vibration of the tensioned wire and the two are related by means of calibration data sheet supplied with each stress meter.
